Nokia Develops Advanced ‘SaaS’ to Save Energy and Reduce CO2 Emissions

Nokia, a Finland-based prominent multinational telecommunications company has developed something unique to meet the needs of telecom users. The company has made one innovative Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) to save energy in telecom devices and reduce CO2 emissions in the environment.

It has developed a service known as AVA (Analytics, Virtualization, and Automation) for energy that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to monitor network traffic. It adjusts power consumption in real-time. According to the company, its newly developed service can help users to save 2-5 times more energy than the conventional non-AI-based systems that execute resource shutdowns on a timely basis.

It is believed that 93% of a network’s CO2 emissions are pumped out into the atmosphere when they are in use. So, automatically power downing resources, when they are not in use, can significantly cut down the CO2 emissions and help reduce the environmental impact caused due to this.

One of the company officials said in a statement that AVA for Energy “reflects Nokia’s broader commitment to cut emissions by 50 percent between 2019 and 2030 across its value chain, including its own operations, products in use, logistics, and final assembly supplier factories.”
