AT&T Contributes $6 Million to Boost Digital Literacy

Telecom giant AT&T has taken one good initiative to boost digital literacy in the USA. It has pledged to contribute $6 million to bring a positive change in the lives of 65,000+ people.

This endeavor is linked to its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative announced in 2021. The company aims to help people learn the basics of computers, mobile devices, the internet, and apps while avoiding scams.

AT&T has collaborated with the Public Library Association (PLA) to create various online courses. Its courses are shared with 160 libraries across the country to enable both in-person and online training.

In its report shared with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the company stated that despite having good broadband connectivity across the country, almost one-third of the population does not use digital services. This may be due to the lack of digital skills. This new initiative is aimed to empower such people.

“It will take a collective response to narrow the digital divide,” said Charlene Lake, CSO at AT&T. “That’s why AT&T is collaborating with libraries and community centers to bring digital literacy tools and resources to people who are unconnected or newly connected and unable to carry out many of the essential tasks our increasingly digital world requires.”
