LTI And IIT Madras Join Hands to Strengthen 5G Research
Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI), a multinational technology giant that is known for its prowess in digital solutions has decided to partner with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras for collaborative research in the field of 5G technology.
This association aims to boost innovation in the 5G telecommunications space by strengthening research towards the development of low-cost and low frequency 5G setup. The idea is to develop a cost-effective and advanced 5G base station and single box solution to improve rural telecom connectivity.
LTI will provide all infrastructure support along with its excellent research capabilities to make this project a success. This endeavour is a part of LTI’s 1step CSR initiative and shows its sincere commitment in promoting research and innovation for the larger benefit of society. It is also closely aligned with the union government’s ‘Make In India’ initiative.
“5G promises to facilitate the next level of innovation to build a smarter society, but it is important to ensure that these benefits reach every part of our country. LTI’s partnership with IIT Madras reflects our determination to leverage this technology to connect people from remote parts of India in a better way,” asserts Nachiket Deshpande, Chief Operating Officer, LTI.
This buzzing technology, 5G, is touted to revolutionize telecom operations in India and boost last-mile connectivity far better than the current 4G network. It is believed that the 5G network can provide telecom services at a much faster speed, lower latency, and greater capacity than 4G. Many nations have already embraced 5G and India is also inching closer towards its roll-out.
